The World’s Most Famous Fashion Designers – Part 2
We return to scour the world of fashion to find the greatest designers of all time in our second fashionable edition of our blog. In part one we looked at two of the greatest names in fashion, Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent and the legacies they left the fashion industry. And in this blog, we zip up our boots, don our hats and move on to our next chosen designers.
Another giant in the world of fashion, Christian Dior was a French designer who shook the world of contemporary fashion. His famous New Look Silhouette was adored when it was released and revolutionized designers thinking at the time.
His new conceptual look that was first exhibited in 1947 took the dominating fashion leading up to WWII and threw it away. Women’s fashion would never be the same again, changing from something functional to a thing of beauty.
The legendary John Galliano to this day represents modern Dior, as he carries on Dior’s legacy in Paris where his flamboyant ball gowns and luxurious accessories are simply stunning. It is a far cry from everyday fashion it is chic pret-a-porter and something rather extravagant and magnificent.
The first American on our list is one of the richest designers of all time, Lauren not only designs clothing, he is a businessman and philanthropist. In 1970 his first Polo logo was seen on the fashion streets of New York.
One of his first widely acclaimed fashion lines was a range of ladies’ formal suits that were designed around masculine lines. Then his fashion icon of all time followed, which was a casual short sleeved shirt with the famous Polo logo emblazoned on the breast.
Lauren had the capacity to run his business alongside with designing clothing. He is a keen collector of classic automobiles, many of which are displayed in the Boston museum. Lauren has enjoyed the fruits of his labors and his estimated wealth is $7.5 billion. However, without his ability to not just design clothes but to run an international company, he would never have achieved fame and fortune.
Born into a fashion dynasty, Donatella is the sister to Gianni Versace and has proved her talent to be more than worthy of the family name. Her brother was brutally murdered in 1997 and Donatella reluctantly took the helm of the empire.
Since then, the House of Versace has gone from strength to strength, her business acumen has taken Versace outlets to all the fashion centers in the world, particularly focusing on Milan and New York. Her celebrity status has enabled her to attract stars such as Madonna and Jennifer Lopez to endorse Versace in many of the company’s products, such as fragrances, clothes and accessories.
